Year 6 Transition

Transition from primary to secondary school is a very exciting time in every child’s career, yet we are aware that there are also concerns. We at Ysgol Glan Clwyd usually offer a comprehensive support program to help Year 6 pupils make the transition to Year 7 – but this year, for obvious reasons, unfortunately we have to change our plans.

We therefore strongly believe that communicating with you as parents and carers is key to ensuring a smooth transition for your child  to the Ysgol Glan Clwyd family. The aim therefore is to keep you updated on this page by sharing information with you through several media forms and documentation.

We may not  meet face to face in the near future but welcoming you in this virtual way is an important step in establishing this important relationship between us.

Regular and detailed contact is currently being made with the Primary schools to meet the needs of all pupils educationally and socially whilst keeping your child’s happiness central to our discussions. A dedicated team of staff at Ysgol Glan Clwyd also work hard to ensure that your child’s experience of transitioning to the family community of Ysgol Glan Clwyd is an exciting and positive experience.

We look forward to a time, when conditions permit, for us to open our doors to the new year 7 pupils and to fully welcome Year 7 2020 to  start enjoying  their exciting time with us as a family at Ysgol Glan Clwyd.

The Young Mentors have been busy writing messages to the Year 6 pupils in order to welcome them to our school and ease any worries they may have. The link below will take you to their messages.

Before the school closures, our Young Mentors were busy recording interviews by members of the Ysgol Glan Clwyd family. We hope you enjoy watching them!
