ALN

Ysgol Glan Clwyd is an inclusive school and we are fully committed to removing barriers to learning and ensuring that all learners have the support they need to be able to participate fully in school life and achieve their potential.

We appreciate that each learner is an individual and therefore strive to  address their diverse needs sensitively and effectively. The aim is to ensure that all learners have access to a broad and balanced, differentiated curriculum. All teachers are teachers of all pupils including those with Additional Learning Needs.

The provision for learners with Additional Learning Needs is coordinated by Ms Eleri Jones (Additional Learning Needs Co-ordinator). The ALNCo will arrange for pupils who need extra support in their lessons to be supported by a member of the team of Teaching Assistants. Members of this team also provide one-to-one and group interventions to develop the literacy skills of other learners who would benefit from this support.

Learners who need support for social, emotional, behavioural or medical difficulties are referred to one of the Welfare and Inclusion Officers or the Welfare and Emotional Support Officer.

We support teachers and parents in identifying and meeting each child’s needs and work closely with external agencies to identify Additional Learning Needs and put provision in place to meet their needs. We work closely with the primary schools to ensure effective transition for our learners.

If you have any questions or queries about the Additional Learning Needs provision at the school, please do not hesitate to contact us on 01745 582611 or email eleri.jones@ysgolglanclwyd.cymru.

A new Additional Learning Needs system is being introduced in Wales. The links below provide information about this system.
